# Status in life cycle management
On this screen you can see the status of a procedure during assignment, execution, and closing. Before you start performing activities within a procedure, the Status has the value unassigned or Assigned.
As soon as you start performing activities in the right column, the Status automatically changes to in progress.
When you have completed and saved all activities, the checklist on the left side is automatically updated and filled in.
