# Importing financial data

Ingesting trial balances, draft financial statements and consolidation statements

On this screen, users can ingest figures from external sources into the audit and check how they appear in <kbd>Typing</kbd> and <kbd>Checks</kbd>. Engyon supports ingesting figures from:

* [Trial balances](/engyon/en/how-to-guides/importing-figures/ingesting-trial-balance.md)
* [consolidation statements](/engyon/en/how-to-guides/importing-figures/ingesting-consolidation-sheet.md)
* [Financial statements](/engyon/en/how-to-guides/importing-figures/importing-financial-statements.md) (in Excel)

The ingested figures appear within the <kbd>Typing</kbd> screen and can be used to provide insight into the figures per audit unit.

**Loading trial balances**\
The advantage of loading figures from a **trial balance** is that balances become available at the general ledger account level, which is useful for lead schedules and making (proposed) adjustments at the level of general ledger accounts.\
When loading a trial balance, no **eliminations** are loaded. In the guide [Ingesting elimination records](/engyon/en/how-to-guides/importing-figures/ingesting-elimination-records.md), you can find how to load eliminations in combination with a trial balance.

**Loading consolidation statement**\
The advantage of loading figures from the **consolidation statement** is that it also allows you to load the elimination column. When loading at the consolidation statement and financial statement level, you can only load onto the predefined financial statement line items and not on sub-items / categories / general ledger account groups (such as revenue streams) or general ledger accounts.

**Loading financial statements**\
The advantage of loading figures from the (Excel) **financial statements** is that the figures then come directly from the audit object.

**Checking totals**\
You can choose to load figures from both the trial balance and consolidation statement (and possibly the financial statements). It is important that the totals per financial statement line item from these sources are equal. This is best checked in the [Checks ](/engyon/en/reference/checks.md)screen in the left menu. If a total does not reconcile, an ! appears behind the total. By clicking a line item open, you can see the details.
