# General ledger account accidentally deleted

Question: I have accidentally deleted a general ledger account that had a balance. How can I restore this?

Answer: [re-import the trial balance](/engyon/en/how-to-guides/importing-figures/ingesting-trial-balance.md) for the entity from which you deleted the general ledger account, and when importing, turn the option **Delete existing general ledger account values** **off**. Then only the deleted general ledger account will be added again. The other accounts remain intact, including the mapping.

A new account with <kbd>General ledger account</kbd> at `Settings` → `General ledger accounts` is something else: there you enter the **Title** and **Amount** yourself for the date shown at the top right (`values shown are for`). This does not restore the original mapping. Use this if you need a missing account for a [correction](/engyon/en/reference/findings.md#adjustments), not to put back an accidentally deleted account from the trial balance.
